The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an investigation into 30 suspected internet fraudsters, following their arrest in a ‘Yahoo’ training school in Benin City, Edo State. The suspects were apprehended by officers of the 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, on April 28, 2025, before being handed over to the EFCC for further questioning.
The EFCC said in a tweet on April 29, 2025, that the suspects were operating out of a facility known as “Hustle Kingdom” (HK), which resembled a typical computer school, equipped with desktop computers, workstations, and other accessories. However, hidden within the premises were various fetish items, which have raised further concerns.
Items recovered from the scene included a Toyota Corolla car, mobile phones, laptops, and MP3 devices, all believed to be linked to fraudulent activities. The suspects are expected to be charged in court once investigations are completed.
The raid highlights ongoing efforts by the EFCC to tackle internet fraud, which has become a growing problem in Nigeria.
