The Lagos State Police Command has arrested eight suspected cultists in connection with recent killings around the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) and nearby areas.
Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin said in a statement that the arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation carried out on April 29, 2025.
The suspects—seven males and one female—are between the ages of 20 and 30. They have been identified as Adeyemo Abdulsamad (aka Cloud), Afeez Enitan, Ayomide Daniel, Olamilekan Adeagbo (aka Skinny), Mayor Samson, Basit Ishola, Quadri Sikiru, and Mariam Salihu.
Hundeyin said the group is linked to several cult-related killings that have caused concern within the YABATECH community and surrounding areas in Yaba, Lagos.
Weapons recovered from the suspects include a Beretta pistol, four rounds of 9mm ammunition, a cartridge, two battle axes, and two cutlasses.
The police say investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the group’s involvement in the killings.
Hundeyin assured the public that the suspects will be prosecuted and face the full force of the law once investigations are completed.
YABATECH and its surroundings have witnessed growing concerns over cult-related violence in recent years, prompting increased police surveillance and operations in the area.
