Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has fiercely criticized Julius Abure’s continued claim of being the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), calling it an act of “masturbation.” The comment came during Otti’s appearance on Arise TV’s ‘The Morning Show,’ where he addressed the ongoing leadership crisis within the party.
The Labour Party has been divided between Abure and his supporters on one side, and a caretaker committee led by Nenadi Usman on the other. This division intensified after the Supreme Court ruled that the Court of Appeal lacked the jurisdiction to pronounce Abure as the LP chairman.
Otti also took the opportunity to clear up rumors about his alleged defection plans. He reaffirmed his loyalty to the Labour Party, stating that he was not planning to leave the party. He also defended the LP, emphasizing that it is stable and not on shaky ground. He compared his journey through various political parties in the past to make the point that political affiliations are part of democracy, but his commitment now is with LP.
In response to Abure’s continued leadership claims, Otti stressed that the Supreme Court’s ruling made it clear that the Labour Party’s leadership has been restored, and he dismissed Abure’s assertions as irrelevant. “When you go through the Supreme Court judgment, you will know that Abure is just masturbating,” Otti added.
