A grader belonging to the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State has crushed a mother and her child to death in Ute community. The tragic incident occurred after the grader, which was being used for a road project, suffered brake failure.
Confirming the incident, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, Spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, stated that investigations had already begun. “The incident is true. We have commenced investigation,” he said in a statement on Monday.
Clement Ojo, Chairman of Ose Local Government, also confirmed the tragedy and expressed deep sorrow. He explained that the grader was part of a road rehabilitation project aimed at improving rural infrastructure. “This is a loss that touches us all, not just as a government, but as members of one human family,” Ojo said in a statement. “What was intended as a noble effort to improve access has now become a moment of intense grief.”
Ojo also promised that the local government would investigate the mechanical fault that led to the crash and take necessary steps to prevent future accidents. The community is left in shock and mourning as they reflect on the loss of a hardworking mother and her innocent child.
