    Share

Popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Bovi, has opened up about the personal challenges he has faced with family and fatherhood, shedding light on his troubled relationship with his late father and the burden of raising a child in the public eye.

In a heartfelt conversation on the talk show #WithChude, Bovi described his late father as a man weighed down by emotional baggage, saying, “My father gave me what he had—and what he had was a lot of negative energy. I have chosen to be the stop.”

He spoke about breaking harmful family patterns and the effort it takes to stop generational cycles of pain. “It’s emotional labour,” he said, referring to his decision to raise his children differently.

Bovi also revealed the pain of dealing with public criticism after sharing that one of his children has a speech impediment. He recounted receiving a cruel message where someone called his child an “imbecile”—a moment he said hurt deeply but also showed the harsh realities of being a public figure.

Despite the challenges, Bovi remains committed to protecting his family and raising awareness about the need for kindness and understanding, especially on social media.
