Armed bandits attacked the staff quarters of Government Secondary School in Tsafe, Zamfara State, early on Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a retired teacher and the abduction of his wife and two other women.

The assailants stormed the quarters around 3:45 a.m., and when the retired teacher, identified as Malam Kabiru, attempted to resist, he was shot and killed. His wife and two neighbours were abducted during the incident.

A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, reported hearing gunshots in the night, followed by silence. Upon investigation, it was discovered that Malam Kabiru had been killed and the three women taken.

Zamfara State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the attack, stating that the bandits had initially targeted the retired teacher but resorted to violence when he resisted. He assured that security forces had been deployed to the area and were actively pursuing the kidnappers.

This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Zamfara State, where banditry and kidnapping for ransom have become prevalent. Residents and local authorities continue to call for increased security measures to protect communities from such attacks.
