Plateau Attack: Herder Missing, 41 Cattle Rustled

    Share

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) said the incident happened on Monday, May 12, 2025, with 41 cattle also rustled. MACBAN chairman in the state, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, said a search team later found Yusuf’s clothes in the bush but could not locate him.

Babayo blamed the attack on Berom youths and said he had reported the matter to the General Officer Commanding 3rd Division, Major General Folusho Oyinlola. However, the Berom Youths Moulder Association (BYM) denied the allegation, describing it as false propaganda.

BYM President, Dalyop Solomon, explained that the incident was part of a security-led operation to remove unidentified individuals from the area, not an attack by Berom youths.

On the same day, MACBAN also reported that five cows were killed and 112 others rustled in Diyan village. Soldiers from Sector 6 later rescued 102 of the stolen cattle.

These incidents are the latest in a series of clashes between herders and farming communities in Plateau State. The long-running conflict over grazing land and security continues to fuel tension in the region.
