    OGTV Reporter Slumps, Dies During Shift

    A tragic incident has struck the Ogun State media community as Mrs. Bukola Agbakaizu, a respected broadcast journalist at Ogun State Television (OGTV) in Abeokuta, passed away suddenly on Monday. The 52-year-old journalist collapsed while preparing for her afternoon shift, and despite efforts to revive her, she was declared dead upon arrival at the Federal Medical Centre.

    The news of her death was confirmed by Mr. Bunmi Adigun, Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ogun State Council, in a statement issued late Tuesday.

    Agbakaizu, a passionate journalist and former Vice Chairman of the OGTV Chapel, was described as a dedicated and versatile professional who deeply impacted her colleagues and the community. “Her vibrant spirit and commitment to journalism will be sorely missed,” Adigun said.

    The Ogun State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) also expressed shock over her sudden passing. Mrs. Sekinat Salam, the chapter chairperson, praised Agbakaizu for her exemplary leadership and dedication to the media profession.

    Agbakaizu is survived by two children, her elderly mother, and many colleagues and friends. Her death has left a deep void in the journalism community. She will be remembered for her compassion, leadership, and passion for storytelling.
