Coalition Brewing Against Tinubu – Atiku

    Share

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has revealed ongoing talks between Nigeria’s major political parties — the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Labour Party (LP) — to form a coalition aimed at stopping President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Atiku made this known on Thursday during a meeting in Abuja with stakeholders from Kogi East Senatorial Zone, led by former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba.

Speaking at the gathering, Atiku criticized President Tinubu’s government, describing it as “incompetent and inefficient,” particularly in its handling of national security. He pointed to the growing wave of insecurity across the country, accusing the administration of lacking the political will to take decisive action.

“How can leaders remain indifferent while citizens are being killed? That is the height of irresponsibility,” Atiku said. He recalled his own role in tackling early Boko Haram threats during his time as Vice President, highlighting the importance of strong and immediate leadership.

He also proposed that unemployed graduates be recruited into the police force to help solve Nigeria’s problem of under-policing. “We don’t have enough police, and yet we have thousands of jobless graduates. Why not employ them into the force?” he asked.

Atiku stressed the need for a united political front to challenge the current leadership. “We are working on a coalition involving the APC, PDP, and Labour Party. This is the only way to take on such an inefficient government,” he added.

Also speaking, Simon Achuba raised concern over rising insecurity in the North, pointing to kidnappings, killings, and destruction of communities. He accused the federal government of failing in its duty to protect Nigerians and called on northern leaders to rise to the occasion.

“The federal government is not doing enough. As leaders from the North, we must unite and work for peace and progress in our region,” Achuba said.

The remarks come amid rising political tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections, as opposition forces begin to mobilize to challenge the ruling party.
