The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ogun State has arrested a 47-year-old man, Muraino Lasisi, for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 14-year-old girl.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, Dyke Ogbonnaya.
Lasisi was picked up by NSCDC officers in the Oke-Sokori area of Abeokuta after a neighbour tipped off the authorities. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to committing the crime.
Following the confession, the command applied to have the suspect remanded in a correctional facility for 60 days while awaiting legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The application was granted by the court.
Ogbonnaya also revealed that a full investigation is ongoing and charges will be filed once the process is complete.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State NSCDC Commandant, Mrs. Remilekun Ekundayo, has pledged to ensure justice is served. She warned that the corps would clamp down on all forms of abuse, particularly those involving minors.
“We will not tolerate any form of indecent acts against children or vulnerable persons in this state,” she said, assuring the public that the matter would be followed to a logical conclusion.
