President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja after a short visit to Rome, where he attended the inauguration of His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV.
The event, which took place at the Vatican, was attended by world leaders and religious figures from across the globe. Tinubu was among several African heads of state who witnessed the formal installation of the new head of the Roman Catholic Church.
Photos shared by the presidency showed Tinubu interacting with other dignitaries during the solemn but historic ceremony. His visit was seen as a gesture of goodwill and support for the Catholic community, both in Nigeria and globally.
President Tinubu touched down in Abuja on Monday evening, May 20, 2025. He was received by top government officials and security aides at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The presidency has not yet released details of any official talks or bilateral engagements that may have taken place during the trip, which was primarily ceremonial.
