Lagos Fixes May 28–29 for Model College Entrance Exams

The Lagos State Government has officially announced the dates for the 2025 entrance examination into its Model Colleges and Upgraded Junior Secondary Schools. The exams are scheduled to hold from Wednesday, May 28 to Thursday, May 29, 2025.

This was disclosed by the Director of the Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr. Orunsolu Adebayo, in a statement issued on Tuesday. He called on parents, guardians, and head teachers of Primary 6 pupils to take note of the dates and prepare the candidates accordingly.

According to Adebayo, the screening will be conducted through a Computer-Based Test (CBT) across five designated centres in the state. He added that only pupils who are currently in Primary 6 and have properly registered are eligible to sit for the test.

“All registered candidates should go back to the examination board’s portal — [https://examsboard.lagosstate.gov.ng](https://examsboard.lagosstate.gov.ng) — to print out their exam slip using their username and password,” Adebayo said.

He stressed that candidates must come to the exam centre with a printed copy of their exam slip and are advised to arrive early to avoid any last-minute issues.

Adebayo clarified that the screening test is the only route to gain admission into JSS1 in any of the Lagos State Model Colleges or Upgraded Junior Secondary Schools. He added that admission will be based strictly on performance, and pupils who meet the required cut-off mark will be offered admission, regardless of whether the school was their first or second choice.

“This process is to ensure transparency and fairness in the admission process,” Adebayo noted.

The Lagos State Model Colleges and Upgraded Junior Secondary Schools are known for offering quality education and better learning facilities. They were established to give bright pupils from public and private primary schools a chance to access improved secondary education under competitive standards.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to support their children during the preparation period, as the exam serves as a key step in the transition from primary to junior secondary school.
