Troops from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have killed three suspected bandits and recovered several weapons during an ambush in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State. The operation took place on Tuesday morning in the Teng and Kayarda communities.

Maj. Samson Zhakom, the Media Officer of OPSH, told journalists in Jos that the troops acted after receiving credible intelligence about planned attacks on local villages.

“Some armed militia were heading to attack villages in Plateau when our troops ambushed and neutralised three bandits. Others managed to escape,” Maj. Zhakom said.

The soldiers recovered four AK-47 rifles, four magazines, and 56 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition from the suspects. The military said it was working hard to arrest the remaining members of the criminal gang who are still at large.

Plateau State has been battling insecurity for years, with bandits and armed groups frequently attacking communities, stealing livestock, and kidnapping residents for ransom. The Nigerian military has launched several operations, including Operation Safe Haven, to tackle the growing threat.
