Popular Nigerian Afrobeats star, Kizz Daniel, has announced a break from music recording to spend more time with his family. The singer made the announcement via a heartfelt post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), revealing that his loved ones had expressed concern about being sidelined due to his intense studio sessions.
Kizz Daniel, whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, stated in his post, “No more recording for me… Just enjoying life like it should be. My family don diss me say I choose studio over them, I’m changing.”
The singer’s decision has sparked conversation among fans and followers, especially considering his reputation for consistently releasing hit songs. Known for tracks like “Buga,” “Cough (Odo),” and “Woju,” Kizz Daniel has maintained a steady presence in the Nigerian and global music scenes over the past decade.
Although he’s stepping back from recording, the singer clarified that he has over 600 unreleased songs in his music vault. In a follow-up message, he shared his plans to eventually release those songs, writing, “I have over 600 songs I want to dish out before I hang boot, so…”
The break comes just after the release of his latest project, the Lemon Chase EP, which features a blend of smooth Afrobeats and collaborations with some of Nigeria’s top musical talents. The EP includes standout tracks like Black Girl Magic, Titi featuring Fola, and Al-Jannah, a powerful collaboration with Bella Shmurda and ODUMODUBLVCK.
Kizz Daniel’s announcement was in response to a fan who noticed how frequently he drops new music. Rather than slow down, he hinted at wanting to clear his catalogue before eventually retiring from the music scene — though he did not give a specific timeline.
The singer has had an impressive career since breaking into the industry in 2014 with his debut single Woju, under G-Worldwide Entertainment. He later founded his own label, Flyboy Inc, and has continued to climb the ranks of Nigeria’s music elite.
Fans have reacted with mixed emotions — while many support his decision to prioritise family, others hope the break will be short-lived.
Whether it’s a temporary pause or the beginning of a gradual step back, one thing is clear: Kizz Daniel wants to find a better balance between his career and personal life.
As the music industry continues to evolve, his choice highlights the human side of stardom — a reminder that even hitmakers need time off to reconnect with home.
