Davido ‘Chosen to Unite Nigeria,’ Pastor Anosike Declares

A South African-based preacher, Pastor John Anosike, has stirred social media with a bold prophecy, claiming that Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been chosen by God to one day become the president of Nigeria.

The prophecy was made public in a sermon video that surfaced online on Friday, showing the pastor speaking passionately to his congregation about a divine vision he received concerning the award-winning musician.

According to Pastor Anosike, God has poured “spiritual oil” on Davido and called him “My servant,” declaring that he would not only lead Nigeria as president but also serve as a unifying figure in a deeply divided country.

“A young man in my country who is known for his music is just a young boy, jumping and singing all kinds of songs, dancing in different ways,” the preacher began. “But that one has received oil from God. He calls him My servant. This is the first time I am speaking about this publicly. His name is Davido. Consider it, he is My servant. He shall become the president of Nigeria and he will unite the country.”

Anosike’s declaration quickly went viral, generating widespread reactions across Nigeria and beyond. While some have dismissed the prophecy as unrealistic, others believe that divine messages can often come in surprising ways.

Despite Davido’s lifestyle as a globally recognized entertainer, Anosike insisted that the singer’s future had been divinely determined and that his influence would one day go beyond music.

“In the realm of the Spirit, I saw him kneeling before Jesus. The Lord took a jar of oil, poured it on his head, and said to me in the Spirit, ‘Look, he has been chosen to unite the country and to lead it into economic freedom.’”

The pastor said that the singer, known for hits like “Unavailable” and “Feel,” is likely unaware of the full spiritual assignment ahead of him, but that God is already preparing him behind the scenes.

“He doesn’t even know it yet. But the preparation has started. God is preparing many young people across the world to bring real economic and spiritual reform in their nations,” he said.

As of press time, Davido has not responded to the prophecy.  Davido is the son of billionaire businessman Adedeji Adeleke and the nephew of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke. Despite his deep political ties, Davido himself has not openly shown interest in running for public office.

In 2022, he actively campaigned for his uncle during the Osun governorship election, using his platform and popularity to mobilize young voters. However, he has never publicly hinted at presidential ambitions.

Nigeria has seen increased interest in youth political participation in recent years, particularly with the #EndSARS movement and the 2023 general elections, where younger voters turned out in greater numbers. A prophecy of Davido’s political future may strike a chord with young Nigerians who desire a new kind of leadership—one that understands modern challenges and connects with the people.

Still, many religious and political analysts urge caution. Prophecies concerning political leadership are not uncommon in Nigeria, and not all come to pass.

Whether or not Davido responds, the prophecy adds a new layer to the ongoing conversation about youth, faith, and leadership in Africa’s most populous nation.
