David Hundeyin Sparks Debate Following Death of APC Chieftain Jesutega Onokpasa

The death of Jesutega Onokpasa, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu, has stirred controversy and conversation across social media platforms.

Onokpasa, aged 49, died on Monday, June 9, 2025. Known for his outspoken support of Tinubu and the APC, he frequently appeared on national television to champion the party’s agenda. His sudden passing has prompted speculation about internal dynamics within the APC and the treatment of its most loyal advocates.

David Hundeyin, a well-known investigative journalist and vocal critic of both the APC and President Tinubu, took to social media shortly after the news broke. In a post that quickly went viral, Hundeyin questioned the APC’s narrative that joining the party guarantees safety and protection. He suggested that Onokpasa’s untimely death challenges that belief.

“Oh? So, after going on national TV to stand logic on its head in the name of defending Tinubu, you still died? I thought joining APC made you immortal o. So, you mean after everything, none of it mattered? Toh. Foolish mortal man like me, what do I know”

Hundeyin’s comments have ignited widespread debate online. While some agree with his critical stance, others have pushed back, defending the party and criticizing what they view as politicizing a personal tragedy. As of now, the APC has not issued an official statement regarding Onokpasa’s death or Hundeyin’s remarks.
