Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to Iran’s missile strikes on Israel, calling the action “just the beginning” and defending Iran’s right to retaliate.
Fani-Kayode made the statement in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday after Iran fired a barrage of ballistic missiles and drones at Israel in what it described as a “crushing response” to previous Israeli airstrikes on its territory.
Tensions between Iran and Israel have been escalating, with recent reports of Israeli military strikes on Iranian targets, leading to civilian and military casualties.
According to Fani-Kayode, Iran was lured into a false sense of security by the United States while Israel prepared for the attack.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has finally hit back and struck the Jewish state with missiles and drones. This was inevitable and it is just the beginning,” he said.
He accused Israel of attacking multiple countries across the Middle East — including Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and now Iran — within the past year, and described the Israeli airstrike on Iran as unprovoked and illegal under international law.
Fani-Kayode questioned the global silence and support for Israel, asking why Iran’s right to self-defence was not equally recognised.
He warned that the retaliation by Iran could escalate the conflict beyond the Middle East, saying, “By the time this is all over, there may be no Zionist state left.”
The former minister also criticised those who support Israel, calling them “cowards” and warning that the same powers they back today could eventually turn against them.
His comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users accusing him of inciting conflict and others backing his position.
