G7 Leaders: Iran Must Never Acquire Nuclear weapons

    Share

At the 2025 G7 Summit held in Kananaskis, Alberta, leaders of the world’s top industrialized nations declared that Iran must never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons. In a joint statement, they described Iran as a major source of unrest and terrorism in the Middle East and stressed the urgent need for calm across the region.

The leaders reaffirmed Israel’s right to defend itself and urged all sides to protect civilians during the ongoing conflict. They also called for a wider ceasefire, including in Gaza, as part of efforts to reduce tensions and prevent further bloodshed.

U.S. President Donald Trump left the summit early to focus on the worsening situation. In a sharp message, he warned that “everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran,” citing Iran’s nuclear activities as a serious threat to global peace and security.

The G7’s strong message shows a united front on nuclear non-proliferation and a continued push for diplomacy in dealing with Iran, while closely monitoring developments in the region.
