Nigerian Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been advised to be careful about what and where he eats, following recent doping controversies in European football.
This warning comes after Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk tested positive for a banned substance called meldonium. The Ukrainian player denies any wrongdoing but faces a possible four-year ban if found guilty.
Roberta Edu, an IT expert and football fan, told Osimhen to avoid eating indiscriminately, especially outside his team’s approved meals. Her advice came after videos showed the Napoli striker dining at the home of a well-known media personality.
Edu said, “Victor Osimhen, you are not just a footballer. You are a brand and a proud representative of Nigeria. You must protect your body like a business.”
She added, “In Europe, top players like Cristiano Ronaldo do not eat casually in other people’s houses. You can visit without accepting food.”
Edu warned that Nigeria’s weak food regulations increase the risk of contamination or accidental doping. She reminded Osimhen of the doping scandal involving French star Paul Pogba as a warning.
“Your meals should be prepared and managed strictly by your nutrition team. If you want local dishes like black soup, have your team cook it for you wherever you go,” she said.
Osimhen’s caution is important as the world watches Nigeria’s top football star closely, and any doping allegations could damage his career and reputation.
