No Land Allocated to Wike’s Son – Aide

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has denied reports that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, allocated over 2,000 hectares of land in Maitama and Asokoro to his son.

Lere Olayinka, the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, described the claim as a “malicious falsehood” pushed by what he called “quack journalists.”

Olayinka said the story, which went viral online, has no truth and should be ignored by the public. He challenged the publishers of the report to present any official land document bearing the name of Wike’s son.

“In today’s Maitama and Asokoro, where will the Minister even find 2,082 hectares of land to allocate? Only untrained journalists would publish such a claim without checking facts,” he said.

He explained that the only land mentioned in the report was legally allocated to a company, JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited, for agricultural purposes in Bwari Area Council—not Maitama or Asokoro, and not to any member of the Minister’s family.

According to Olayinka, even if Wike’s family members applied for land and met all legal requirements, it would not be illegal. However, he insisted that in this case, no such allocation was made to any of Wike’s children.

He concluded by urging Nigerians to be wary of false reports and advised media practitioners to maintain professionalism.

“This publication should be disregarded. It’s another attempt to defame the Minister using lies and bitterness,” Olayinka said in the statement released on Thursday, June 26.
