    Ex-Army Chief Buratai Hails Troops for Repelling Boko Haram in Borno

    Former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (rtd), has praised Nigerian Army troops for successfully repelling a Boko Haram attack in Buratai, his hometown in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

    Buratai gave the commendation through a post on his verified Facebook page after visiting the area. He made a stop at the Forward Operation Base (FOB) in Buratai, where he met with soldiers of the 135 Special Forces Battalion.

    The retired general commended the troops for their courage, resilience, and continued efforts in the fight against terrorism. He urged them to sustain the momentum and “keep the flag flying.”

    During the visit, Buratai also praised the current Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, for his leadership and for boosting the morale of soldiers across the country.

    “I have full confidence that the Nigerian military will do its best to surmount the security challenges across the country,” he said.

    Buratai, who led the Nigerian Army during a critical phase of the war against insurgency, remains a respected voice in national security discussions. His recent remarks come at a time when security forces continue efforts to push back terrorist threats, especially in the North-East.
