Chelsea Need Trubin – Obi Mikel Backs Transfer Move

    Share

Former Super Eagles and Chelsea star, John Obi Mikel, has advised his former club to sign Benfica goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin during the ongoing summer transfer window.

Mikel made the call after Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Benfica in the Club World Cup Round of 16. Despite Trubin’s earlier good form in the tournament, the Nigerian legend pointed out errors in the game that showed Chelsea could benefit from signing him.

Speaking on DAZN, Mikel said, “Again another mistake from Trubin. We talked about him before the game. He has had a brilliant tournament so far. I still think we \[Chelsea] need to get Trubin.”

Chelsea currently have four goalkeepers on their books — Filip Jorgensen, Mike Penders, Djordje Petrovic, and Robert Sanchez — but are expected to let two of them leave this summer in search of regular playing time.

With new head coach Enzo Maresca preparing for the next Premier League season, Chelsea are actively looking to strengthen key positions.
