Speaking to journalists in Minna, Arah said 500 people were injured in the flood, while the number of missing persons remains unknown.

He added that victims whose homes were destroyed received N500,000 each to help them find new places to live. The agency also gave out food and other relief materials to support those affected.

To prevent future disasters, NSEMA has launched flood awareness campaigns across all eight emirate councils in Niger State. Residents living near rivers and waterways have been urged to move to safer areas.

Besides flood relief, NSEMA has also responded to recent fire disasters, including explosions involving dynamite and tankers in different parts of the state.
