Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed 10 Boko Haram terrorists during a recent attack at Manawaji, a border community between Rann and Gamboru Ngala near the Nigeria-Cameroon border. This success is part of ongoing military efforts to clear the Southern Lake Chad area of insurgents.
Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Theatre Commander of the North-East Joint Task Force, made the announcement while speaking to journalists in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. He said that several weapons and ammunition, including anti-aircraft rounds believed stolen in a previous attack on Cameroon’s Defense Force, were recovered from the terrorists.
“Our troops engaged the terrorists at Manawaji, leading to the elimination of ten insurgents and the seizure of weapons and ammunition,” General Abubakar said. “We suspect the anti-aircraft ammunition was stolen in an earlier attack on Cameroonian forces.”
Rann and Gamboru Ngala are key border towns located approximately 180 and 154 kilometers from Maiduguri, respectively. These areas have been frequent targets of Boko Haram attacks due to their strategic location along the Lake Chad borders.
The General praised the troops’ dedication and highlighted that recent deliveries of new fighting equipment have boosted their morale. He promised that military operations will continue until every terrorist in the region is neutralised.
The operation marks a significant step in restoring peace and security in the Lake Chad region, which has suffered years of attacks and instability.
