Socio-political activist Aisha Yesufu has criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC), recently adopted by opposition leaders as their platform, saying the party is dominated by older men.

In a post on her X handle, Aisha, a strong supporter of Labour Party’s Peter Obi, urged the ADC coalition to include more youth and women in real decision-making roles — not just token positions.

“Women leader and youth leader positions cannot be what is reserved for women and youth alone,” she said. “This table full of older generation men cannot be the only ones allowed to make the decisions as we go on! Women and youth must be at the centre of decision-making and not as afterthoughts.”

She encouraged young people and women to actively participate in leadership, delegate roles, and grassroots membership to bring fresh ideas and energy to the coalition.

The criticism follows the ADC’s recent leadership shake-up, where all executives stepped down to make way for a new interim chairman, former Senate President David Mark, as the party becomes the opposition coalition’s base for the 2027 elections.
