Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, has praised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, saying he would have made a great president if he had won past elections. Bwala spoke in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, yet to be released publicly.
However, he expressed doubts if Atiku could have outperformed President Tinubu. “Atiku would have been a great president, but whether he would have been greater than Bola Tinubu, I doubt that,” Bwala said.
Bwala also criticized former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, accusing him of having an identity crisis. He described Obi as an “opportunistic politician” who has not clearly defined his political stance.
“The problem with Mr. Peter Obi is what we call the identity crisis. Peter Obi has not defined his identity in politics, so he finds himself like an opportunistic politician,” Bwala added.
Atiku Abubakar, a key opposition figure and former vice president, has contested several presidential elections but has never won. Peter Obi gained prominence as a strong opposition candidate in 2023 but has faced criticism over his political direction. Daniel Bwala is a close aide to President Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s current leader.
