Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will commission two important road projects on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, as part of his administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure and ease traffic for residents.
The roads to be commissioned are the reconstructed Abaranje Road in Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area and the Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Old Dopemu) Road in Agege Local Government Area. These projects add to 36 roads and five bridges already completed by the Lagos State Government this year.
The Old Dopemu Road serves as a strategic bypass connecting Agege and Alimosho Local Governments, linking major routes like Akowonjo Road, Old Ipaja Road, and Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. Meanwhile, Abaranje Road is a vital route in Igando, one of the largest communities in Alimosho LGA.
Both roads have been rebuilt to improve connectivity, ease traffic jams, reduce travel time, and prevent flooding. The upgrades are expected to enhance transportation, boost commercial activities, and improve the economic well-being of Lagosians along these routes.
Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration is committed to delivering sustainable communities and better infrastructure despite economic challenges. The government has prioritized upgrading old roads and building new ones to support Lagos’ growing population and economic demands.
This commissioning marks another step in fulfilling the promise to make Lagos more accessible and livable for all residents.
