The Supreme Court has indefinitely adjourned its judgment in the legal dispute over the Edo State Governorship Election.

The case concerns the election that declared Senator Monday Obekpolo as the governor-elect. The hearing ended without a ruling, and the court said it will notify the parties when the judgment date is fixed.

The appeal was filed by Mr. Asue Ighodalo and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who claimed that Ighodalo actually scored the majority of lawful votes and should be declared the winner.

However, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) opposed this, asking the court to dismiss the case entirely. INEC argued that Ighodalo and the PDP labeled the election unlawful but still want to be declared winners, which they said is contradictory.

Justice Garba Lawal, who led the hearing, emphasized that the judgment date would be communicated later.
