Charly Boy Calls Opposition Coalition “Old Wolves in New Agbada

    Share

Popular Nigerian singer and activist, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has criticized the recent formation of a political coalition aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

The coalition includes major opposition leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and some discontented members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). They have adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their platform to challenge Tinubu’s presidency.

While the coalition’s announcement sparked excitement across Nigeria, many have expressed doubts about the true intentions of these political figures. Notably, activist Omoyele Sowore distanced himself from the movement, calling the leaders corrupt.

Charly Boy also weighed in through a post on his official Facebook page on Thursday night, dismissing the coalition members as the same people who have failed Nigeria in the past. He described them as “old wolves in new agbada,” accusing them of seeking power for selfish reasons rather than genuine national interest.

“Coalitions are forming, but let’s not pretend that every alliance is progress. Sometimes, it’s just old wolves in new agbada,” he wrote. “Are they fighting for you, or fighting to sit where their enemies used to sit? Are they shouting ‘enough is enough’ because they’ve changed…or because they’re no longer the ones benefitting?”
