Former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be defeated in the 2027 general elections — even if he appoints his own son, Seyi Tinubu, as chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Dalung made the statement during an interview on News Central on Friday night, where he accused the Tinubu administration of declaring “war against the Nigerian people” through bad governance.
“Even if the 36 state governors defect to the APC, and Tinubu appoints his son as INEC chairman and his wife as Chief Justice of Nigeria, they will still be defeated,” Dalung said.
The former minister, who served under President Muhammadu Buhari, said the 2027 election would not just be a political contest, but a direct struggle between Nigerians and a government that has, in his words, “weaponised poverty, hunger and hardship.”
He urged Nigerians to support the emerging coalition of opposition parties aimed at challenging the ruling APC.
“The only option we have now is to align with the coalition movement to reposition ourselves and confront the government in 2027,” he said.
Dalung’s comments come as political groups and former officials ramp up criticism of the current administration over worsening economic conditions, insecurity, and rising living costs.
