Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has officially resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a letter personally signed by him, Lawal announced his decision to quit the party with immediate effect. The resignation was addressed to the APC Chairman of Bangshika Ward, Hong Local Government Area in Adamawa State.

Lawal, who served as SGF under President Muhammadu Buhari during his first term, did not disclose his new political destination but promised to reveal it soon.

“In due course, I will make public my current political affiliation, where I plan to join compatriots to work towards making Nigeria a better living place for all citizens,” he stated.

His exit marks another high-profile departure from the APC, as internal disagreements and shifting political alliances continue ahead of the 2027 general elections.
