    Lagos Police Restrict Movement for LG Elections on Saturday

    The Lagos State Police Command has announced a total restriction of movement across the state on Saturday, July 12, 2025, to ensure safety and order during the local government elections.

    According to a statement issued by the Command, vehicular movement will be prohibited from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. on that day. The restriction applies to all roads and waterways within Lagos State.

    The police also announced a ban on armed escorts, sirens, and covered number plates throughout the election period.

    “No security personnel from any state agency or quasi-security outfit is allowed to be involved in election security,” the statement emphasized, citing provisions of the Electoral Act.

    The following groups are exempted from the restriction:

    Related Posts

    – Medical emergency workers and other essential service providers

    – Accredited officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC)

    -Accredited election observers and journalists covering the election

    All exempted persons must wear their LASIEC-issued ID tags throughout the process.

    The police issued a strong warning to hoodlums, miscreants, and political thugs to stay away from polling units, collation centers, and other official election venues.

    The Lagos council polls are expected to draw large voter turnout across the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs).
