The All Progressives Congress (APC) has a new national chairman. Professor Nentawe Yilwatda was officially announced as the new leader of the ruling party during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Thursday in Abuja.
Yilwatda, a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, replaces Abdullahi Ganduje, who stepped down from the position in June.
In his acceptance speech, Yilwatda promised to work with every member of the party, unite its ranks, and take it forward.
“My pledge, without hesitation, is that I will work with everybody in the party, I will build the party, I will unite the party, and I will expand the party with you as a focus,” he said.
He also called on party leaders and members to work together to fulfill the expectations Nigerians have of the APC.
The appointment of Yilwatda comes at a crucial time for the APC as the party prepares for future elections and seeks to strengthen its support across the country.
