Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has denied claims that he is planning to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday by Ibrahim Umar of the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), Obi made it clear that he remains committed to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), not the PDP.
The clarification comes after a statement circulating online falsely claimed that Obi was switching allegiance to the PDP.
“Peter Obi has been clear about his position in the ongoing coalition talks. He does not need anyone to speak for him or spread false statements,” the media office said.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and a key figure in Nigeria’s opposition politics, warned the public to ignore any statements not released through his official channels.
“He is focused on his mission and will not tolerate anyone spreading lies to serve their own agenda,” the statement added.
Obi ran for president in 2023 under the Labour Party and has remained active in political discussions around building a coalition for a better Nigeria.
