ADC Delegates Will Choose Presidential Candidate – Paul Ibe

Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has said that delegates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will decide who becomes the party’s presidential candidate when the time comes.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Ibe defended the growing interest among ADC politicians to run for president, saying it is a normal part of democratic processes. He stressed that what matters most is that the selection will be done by party delegates, not imposed.

“There’s nothing wrong in all of them wanting to be president. The delegates of the party will, at the appropriate time, determine who will be the presidential candidate. That is democracy,” Ibe wrote.

Ibe also launched a strong attack on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of failing Nigerians in just two years. He said the ADC coalition is angry over the rising hardship, insecurity, and worsening economic conditions.

“They’re angry at how the material condition of the average citizen has deteriorated… at the skyrocketing prices of food… and at worsening insecurity that has left Nigerians at the mercy of terrorists and kidnappers,” he said.

He further criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying Tinubu’s leadership has been marked by incompetence and lost opportunities to improve the country.

The ADC, which is forming alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections, is expected to play a role in the opposition’s efforts to challenge the APC at the national level.
