Bala Slams FG- Only 30% of 2024 Budget Implemented

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government over what he described as poor budget performance and a lack of seriousness in governance.

Speaking at the Government House in Bauchi while receiving a delegation of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) women leaders led by Hajiya Inna Chiroma, the governor expressed frustration that only 30 percent of the 2024 national budget has been implemented, while attention is already shifting to planning for 2026.

“The Federal Government is not working; everyone can see that,” Mohammed said. “There are three budgets before the National Assembly. Only 30 percent of the 2024 budget has been implemented, and they’re already talking about 2026. That shows a complete lack of seriousness.”

He said the situation reflects a wider failure of leadership under the APC and called on the PDP to regroup and reclaim power in order to restore proper governance, national direction, and accountability.

During the visit, Governor Bala also used the opportunity to push for stronger inclusion of women in politics and governance. He urged the PDP to fully implement the 35 percent affirmative action policy and support women in taking on key roles beyond traditional positions.

“In Bauchi, women are handling ministries like budget and planning. We’ve moved past limiting them to just the Ministry of Women Affairs,” he said.

In her remarks, Hajiya Inna Chiroma called on the PDP to keep its promise of 35 percent inclusion for women. She praised Governor Bala for leading by example and urged other PDP governors to follow suit.

“If more governors acted like you, we wouldn’t need to beg for inclusion,” she said.
