Veteran Nigerian singer and rapper, Seyi Sodimu, has described Wande Coal as the most talented artist in the Nigerian Afrobeats scene.
In a recent interview with comedian Teju Babyface, Sodimu said Wande Coal played a key role in shaping the modern sound of Afrobeats and had a strong influence on stars like Wizkid, Davido, and Sean Tizzle.
“Wande Coal was one of the pivotal moments where he switched it to the new generation,” Sodimu said. “It was Wande’s style that brought the new sound. I think he is the most talented Nigerian Afrobeats artist.”
When asked if Wande Coal receives enough recognition, Sodimu responded, “People love Wande when they hear his music. Ask any artist — even Burna Boy will attest to Wande’s artistry.”
He further described Wande Coal as a genius, praising his talent in both singing and songwriting. “He’s operating at 30% and still making waves. Imagine him at 78%.”
