Former President Goodluck Jonathan has raised an alarm over a fake Instagram account being used to impersonate him on social media.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his Media Aide, Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan made it clear that he does not operate any Instagram account, and warned the public against being misled by the fraudulent page.

The statement, titled ‘Beware of fake Instagram account impersonating H.E. Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’, revealed that the fake account, using the handle @goodluck\_ebelejonathan, has been posting copied content from Jonathan’s official Facebook page in an attempt to appear genuine.

“Our attention has been drawn to a fraudulent Instagram account operating under the handle goodluck\_ebelejonathan, which is falsely impersonating former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,” the statement read.

The former president’s team urged the media and the general public to disregard any posts or messages from the fake account and warned against sharing or promoting its content.
