Adamawa Police Ask for Public Assistance in Locating Parents of Samson James Daniel

The Adamawa State Police Command is appealing to the public for help in locating the parents of a 10-year-old boy found wandering in Yola, the state capital. The boy, identified as Samson James Daniel, was discovered on Thursday, August 28, 2025, around Tsohon Kasuwa in the Jimeta area of Yola North Local Government.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, a Good Samaritan brought the child to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Jimeta after finding him alone. The boy, who was disoriented and without any guardian, revealed his name and provided some details about his family.

Samson, when questioned, stated that he comes from Mubi, a town in the northern part of Adamawa State. He also mentioned the names of his parents as James Daniel (his father) and Grace (his mother). However, there were no further details provided by the boy that could help the police trace his family or explain how he ended up in Jimeta, far from his hometown.

In his statement, SP Nguroje explained that although the child gave the names of his parents, the police had yet to verify any of the information or track down his family. He further called on members of the public who may have seen the boy or have any information about his whereabouts to come forward and assist in locating his parents.

The police have urged anyone with useful information about Samson’s parents or his family’s whereabouts to immediately get in touch with the authorities. The police specifically requested that the public contact the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Jimeta at 09032163862 or the Police Public Relations Officer’s office at 08065604764.

“We appeal to the good people of Adamawa State, especially those from Mubi or nearby areas, to assist us in locating the parents of this young boy. We understand that there might be people who recognize him or know his family,” said Nguroje.

The police also acknowledged that this case highlights the growing issue of children lost or abandoned, often due to various social reasons. As authorities work to reunite Samson with his parents, the case has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of children in the state. It also serves as a reminder for communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities involving children or the welfare of minors.

This incident is not the first time the police have been involved in such a case. Adamawa, like many other parts of Nigeria, has seen an increasing number of reports about missing children, some of whom are abandoned or lost due to family issues, neglect, or even trafficking.

The Adamawa State Police have been working tirelessly to handle such cases, but they have emphasized that community cooperation plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of children. Parents are being reminded to be more cautious about their children’s whereabouts and to avoid leaving them unattended, especially in busy public areas.

Meanwhile, the police have assured the public that they are doing everything within their power to investigate the matter further. In addition to tracking down Samson’s parents, authorities are also conducting checks with nearby towns and communities to see if anyone recognizes the child.

While there has been no official statement on whether Samson was abducted or simply lost, the situation has sparked discussions about the vulnerabilities that children face in public spaces. The police have reiterated the importance of looking out for children and promptly reporting any suspicious or unusual situations.
