The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has congratulated Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election following what it described as a “resounding and historic victory” in the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election.

In a press statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ejimofor Opara, and made available to journalists on Sunday, APGA said the victory was a clear reflection of the trust and confidence of the people of Anambra in Governor Soludo’s leadership.

According to Opara, Governor Soludo’s win — with 73 percent of the total votes cast and victories in 98 percent of the 326 electoral wards across the state — showed the overwhelming support of the electorate for his administration’s policies and reforms.

“This landslide triumph is not merely an electoral outcome; it is a referendum on performance, a celebration of progressive governance, and a reaffirmation of APGA as the true political identity of Ndi Igbo and the custodian of Anambra’s development aspirations,” Opara said.

The party described the result as a strong endorsement of Soludo’s “visionary leadership” and his determination to build what he has consistently called “a liveable and prosperous homeland.”

Governor Soludo, who first assumed office in March 2022, has focused on projects aimed at improving infrastructure, education, security, and job creation in Anambra State. His administration’s efforts to tackle insecurity in some communities, expand road networks, and promote youth empowerment programs have been key talking points during his first term.

Opara said Soludo’s re-election was a testament to the faith of the people in his development agenda. “Anambra people have once again delivered a clear, unequivocal, and overwhelming mandate,” he said. “They have chosen continuity in governance and rejected the politics of division and distraction.”

The APGA spokesperson also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as a transparent and credible election that reflected the will of the people.

He further praised the security agencies for their professionalism and vigilance during the poll, noting that their presence ensured a peaceful and orderly process across the state.

“APGA extends profound appreciation to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for ensuring an atmosphere of peace, fairness, and national responsibility throughout the electoral process,” the statement added.

While the party celebrated its victory, it also mourned the death of one of its members, Mr. Francis Onyeka Ibe, a councillor representing Owerre-Ezukala and leader of the Orumba South Council, who was reportedly shot dead by gunmen shortly after casting his vote.

Opara described the killing as “a painful reminder of the challenges that still face the state,” and called on security agencies to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

“Our hearts are with his family and the people of Orumba South. His death is a huge loss to the APGA family and to the democratic spirit of Anambra,” he said.

Looking ahead, APGA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Governor Soludo’s second-term agenda. The party said it would continue to provide leadership that promotes unity, economic growth, and the welfare of all citizens.

“As Governor Soludo embarks on his second term, APGA reiterates its commitment to providing leadership that works for all — building institutions, deepening democracy, expanding economic opportunities, and safeguarding the future of every Anambra son and daughter,” the statement read.

The party highlighted that Soludo’s re-election marks “a new chapter” in the state’s history and an opportunity to consolidate the achievements of the past four years.

“This victory marks a new chapter. Together, we shall build an Anambra that is liveable, prosperous, globally competitive, and exemplary in governance,” Opara added.

Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), first ran for the Anambra governorship in 2010 under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) but was defeated. He later joined APGA, which has governed Anambra since 2006, beginning with the administration of Peter Obi.

Soludo’s first election victory in 2021 continued APGA’s dominance in Anambra politics. Under his leadership, the party has maintained its identity as a regional force in the South-East, promoting the ideals of self-reliance, community development, and good governance.

With Soludo’s re-election, APGA remains the only party currently in control of a state government in the South-East, further solidifying its position as a key voice for the region within Nigeria’s political landscape.

Political watchers believe Soludo’s second term will be crucial for the future of APGA and its vision for the South-East. His ability to deliver on his promises and maintain stability in Anambra will likely determine both his legacy and the party’s prospects in future national elections.
