Three European football clubs have reacted to Nigeria’s 3-1 victory over Uganda at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The clubs are Sevilla of Spain, Club Brugge of Belgium, and Trabzonspor of Turkey. All three clubs have Nigerian players in their squads who featured in the match.

The Super Eagles defeated Uganda on Tuesday in their final Group C match of the tournament, which is being played in Morocco. The win confirmed Nigeria’s strong performance in the group stage and boosted confidence ahead of the knockout rounds.

Nigeria’s goals came from Raphael Onyedika, who scored twice, and Paul Onuachu, who added the third goal. Uganda scored once but could not match Nigeria’s attacking strength and control of the game.

The victory marked Nigeria’s third straight win in Group C, making the Super Eagles one of the most impressive teams in the group stage so far. The result also showed the depth of quality in the Nigerian squad, with players from top European leagues making key contributions.

Following the match, Sevilla reacted on social media to celebrate the performance of their striker, Akor Adams, who featured for Nigeria. Although Adams did not score, the Spanish club praised the team’s overall success and the player’s involvement.

Sevilla posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Minutes for @AkorjeromeAdams in a 3rd win in a row for Nigeria at AFCON. The Super Eagles are flying!”

The message showed Sevilla’s pride in their player and highlighted Nigeria’s strong run in the tournament. Akor Adams has been part of Nigeria’s squad as the team continues to rotate players and manage fitness during the competition.

Belgian club Club Brugge also reacted after their midfielder, Raphael Onyedika, scored two goals in quick succession against Uganda. Onyedika’s brace came within five minutes, turning the game firmly in Nigeria’s favour.

Club Brugge wrote on X: “Two goals in only 5 minutes at the @CAF_Online for Rapha! @NGSuperEagles.”

The post celebrated Onyedika’s impact and underlined his importance to both club and country. Onyedika has grown into a key player for Nigeria, using his strength, energy, and ability to arrive late in the box to good effect.

Trabzonspor of Turkey also joined in the praise by celebrating Paul Onuachu’s goal. The club posted a photo of the tall striker celebrating after scoring for Nigeria against Uganda. Although the club did not add many words, the image spoke clearly of their support and pride in their player.

Onuachu’s goal was important, as it helped Nigeria maintain control and avoid any late pressure from Uganda. The striker, known for his aerial strength and hold-up play, has been working hard to regain top form after an injury-hit period.

The reactions from European clubs show the strong link between African national teams and European football. Many Nigerian players play in Europe, and their performances at international tournaments often attract attention from their clubs and fans.

For Nigeria, the win over Uganda was not just about the result but also about momentum. The Super Eagles have shown good balance in attack and defence during the group stage. Coach Eric Chelle has rotated his squad well and given chances to several players.

The 2025 AFCON in Morocco has already produced many exciting matches, and Nigeria is seen as one of the favourites. The Super Eagles are former champions and have a long history in the competition. Fans at home and abroad are hopeful the team can go all the way this time.

Uganda, also known as the Cranes, fought hard but struggled to cope with Nigeria’s pace and quality. Despite the loss, the team gained valuable experience by competing against one of Africa’s strongest sides.

As Nigeria prepares for the knockout stage, attention will remain on players like Onyedika, Onuachu, and Akor Adams, as well as others in the squad. European clubs will continue to watch closely, hoping their players stay fit and return with confidence.

For Nigerian fans, the reactions from Sevilla, Club Brugge, and Trabzonspor are another sign that the Super Eagles are making waves beyond Africa.
