A woman claiming to be the wife of Tony Obi, brother of former Nigerian football star John Mikel Obi, has taken to social media to plead for justice, alleging years of abuse and mistreatment by her husband and his family.

Diamond Nweke, who identifies herself online as Diamond Nweke Andrew Obi, described in an emotional video how she and her children were publicly humiliated during a recent family event. She claimed that her 18-year marriage has been filled with suffering and that the entire Obi family has treated her unfairly.

Speaking directly to her followers, Nweke said, “Even to call the name Obi is quite heavy. I have been seeking for divorce. I don’t want to marry Tony Obi anymore. He’s an evil person. I have been through hell for the past 18 years that I have been married to him.”

She went on to allege that members of the Obi family, including former footballer Mikel Obi, have consistently treated her and her children with cruelty. “The entire Obi family has done evil to me, including John Obi himself,” she said.

The incident that reportedly triggered her social media post occurred when Diamond and her children attended a condolence visit for the late sister of Mikel Obi, Chioma Obi. According to her account, she and her children were pushed and embarrassed in front of other attendees.

“I want to ask for justice. This evening, my kids and I went for condolence because John Mikel Obi lost his sister, Chioma Obi, and we went for wake-keeping, only for these people to push me and my kids, embarrass us in a very despicable manner,” she said.

Nweke said she has been subjected to years of what she calls hatred and domestic violence, which she described as unending and unbearable. “I have done nothing wrong to this entire family. The level of hatred these people have for me is incomparable. I don’t understand how people can hate you, hate the air you breathe, and their own children,” she added.

In her video, Nweke called on Mikel Obi and his siblings to publicly clarify her alleged wrongdoings. “Today, enough is enough. I want the entire John Obi and his siblings to come out on social media and tell the whole world what I did to deserve the insult, the battering, the evil, and the domestic violence I went through in this family in the past 18 years,” she said.

She further warned other women about the potential dangers of marrying into families that do not accept them. “No matter how much you love a man, if his family doesn’t love you, stay away from that relationship. You are wasting your time and exposing yourself to hell. I have seen hell,” Nweke said.

Nweke also revealed that she has been struggling with an eye problem, which she believes may have worsened due to the stress and trauma from the family disputes. “I have an eye problem, but it is healing, and by the grace of God, I will be fine,” she said.

She repeated her demand for the Obi family to come forward and provide their side of the story, emphasizing that her goal is to clear her name and bring attention to the alleged injustices she has faced. “I have a lot of stories to tell the whole world, and when you see this story, I will tell it so that every other woman will learn from my mistake,” she said.

According to Nweke, her marriage has been a long period of giving and suffering. “I have spent all my time and youth to stay with this family to make sure I give them all the love and support I can, but I was given back evil for my kindness. That kindness is dead; it died today,” she lamented.

She expressed regret over her choices and said she wished she could turn back time. “I have made a great mistake, and I wish I could turn back the hands of time. I want the entire Obi family to tell the world what I did to them. I need justice; I want justice. The insult is too much. It’s really unfair,” she said.

The video quickly went viral on social media, attracting widespread attention and sparking debates about domestic abuse, family disputes, and the treatment of women in high-profile marriages. Many social media users expressed sympathy for Nweke and condemned any form of domestic violence or family maltreatment.

Mikel Obi is one of Africa’s most successful footballers, known for his time with clubs like Chelsea in England. His family is influential and well-known, which means personal disputes often attract public attention.

Historically, family conflicts in Nigeria, particularly in wealthy or public families, can escalate quickly due to societal pressure, expectations, and media scrutiny. Experts warn that unresolved disputes can affect the well-being of all involved, including children.

Nweke highlighted that her public plea is intended not only for personal justice but also as a cautionary tale for other women. She stressed the importance of awareness in relationships and family dynamics, especially when entering marriages that involve complex family structures.
