Peter and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, were both born on November 18, 1981. The twins rose to fame as members of the group P-Square, one of Africa’s most successful music acts, known for hit songs and energetic performances.

However, in recent years, the relationship between the two brothers has been strained. The duo, who once dominated the African music scene together, have had a public fallout that led to their separation as a group for a period. Although there have been attempts at reconciliation, tensions between them have remained in the public eye.

Mr P’s announcement about changing his birthday date has therefore attracted attention from fans, many of whom are still aware of the long-running disagreement between the twins.

While the singer did not give any reason for the change, the decision has sparked discussions on social media, with fans reacting with surprise and curiosity. Some supporters have expressed understanding of his personal choice, while others questioned the need to change such a long-established date.

Birthday celebrations are an important tradition for many Nigerian celebrities, who often use the occasion to connect with fans, host events, and receive goodwill messages. For a popular figure like Mr P, such changes are likely to draw public interest.

The singer, who has built a strong solo career after the split from P-Square, continues to perform and release music independently. Both he and his brother Paul Okoye have remained active in the entertainment industry, though separately.

Despite their differences, the legacy of P-Square remains significant in Nigerian and African music history. The group, formed in the late 1990s, gained massive popularity in the 2000s and early 2010s with several hit albums and international recognition.

For now, Mr P’s new announcement simply adds another personal twist to the public life of one of Nigeria’s most recognised entertainers.

As fans adjust to the new date, attention will remain on whether this decision is purely personal or part of broader changes in the singer’s life and relationship with his twin brother.
