Popular herbal seller and social media personality, Eniola Fagbemi, also known as Sisi Alagbo, has publicly apologised again to Nigerians following the circulation of a controversial video involving her, her husband, and another woman.

The video, which surfaced online last Monday, quickly went viral and triggered strong reactions across social media platforms. Many Nigerians expressed anger over the content of the clip, while others questioned the circumstances that led to its recording and release.

In response to the backlash, Sisi Alagbo and her husband, Adesola Hakeem, initially issued a joint apology, admitting that the incident had caused them emotional distress. They said the situation had affected them deeply, with the herbal seller revealing that she had been unable to sleep for several days after the video surfaced online.

However, the controversy did not die down, as more Nigerians continued to react to the incident. This prompted Sisi Alagbo to release another video on her Facebook page on Monday, where she made a more emotional appeal.

Speaking in the video, the social media personality appealed not only to Nigerians but also to specific groups, including mothers, traditional practitioners, and her professional community.

“I am begging all Nigerians. I beg my mother and my family, please do not be angry,” she said. “To the association of herbal sellers and traditional practitioners, I also apologise. I apologise to all mothers in the world; please forgive my actions. I also ask God to forgive my sins.”

She continued by admitting that she had made a serious mistake and had no excuse for what happened.

“I apologise to all men and women in the country. I am your child; please forgive me. I made a grave mistake, and I regret my actions. Nigerians, please forgive me. I have nothing to say and no reason for what I did. I have done wrong; please forgive me,” she added.

The video has further fuelled discussions online, especially around issues of morality, privacy, and the growing influence of social media in shaping public opinion in Nigeria.

Sisi Alagbo became popular on social media through her herbal business, which she actively promoted online. She gained attention for showcasing traditional herbal mixtures, commonly known as “agbo,” and for marketing her products beyond Nigeria.

Her rise to fame is often linked to her efforts to promote her grandmother’s herbal trade to a wider audience, including customers in countries like China and Qatar. Her story of moving from a local herbal seller to a recognised online personality has inspired many young Nigerians trying to build businesses through social media.

Her fame grew even more after a viral encounter with Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco. In the video, Sisi Alagbo was seen kneeling to greet the football star, a gesture that sparked debate online.

While some people praised her for showing respect, others criticised her, saying the act was unnecessary. Responding to the criticism at the time, she defended her actions, saying respect should not be seen as a crime.

“You are criticising me because I knelt down to greet Osimhen. I did not know that being respectful is now a crime,” she said in a previous post.

She also explained that she saw the moment as an opportunity, noting that the encounter helped boost her business.

“From the video I posted alone, I already know what I have gained from it. People from Ibadan have told me that all the agbo in my store have been sold out,” she added.

Despite her growing popularity, the recent controversy has placed her under intense public scrutiny. Observers say the incident highlights the challenges faced by social media influencers, especially in managing their personal lives in the public eye.

In Nigeria, viral content often spreads quickly, and public figures can face immediate backlash when involved in controversial situations. Analysts say this case also shows how public apologies have become a common response to online criticism, though their effectiveness often depends on public perception.

Some Nigerians have called for caution, urging people not to rush to judgment without knowing the full details of the incident. Others, however, insist that public figures must be mindful of their actions, given their influence on followers, especially young people.

The involvement of the herbal sellers’ association in her apology also points to concerns within her professional community about how the incident may affect their image. Traditional medicine practitioners in Nigeria have long worked to gain public trust, and controversies involving prominent figures in the field can impact that effort.

As reactions continue to pour in, it remains unclear whether the apology will calm public anger or further fuel debate. What is certain is that the incident has once again highlighted the power of social media in shaping reputations and influencing public discourse in Nigeria.

For Sisi Alagbo, the coming days may be crucial in determining how the public responds to her apology and whether she can rebuild her image after the controversy.
