The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has announced plans for his final burial rites, with interment scheduled for June 18, 2026, in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State.
The funeral arrangements were made public through an obituary statement shared on the actor’s official Instagram page, where the family also thanked Nigerians and members of the entertainment industry for their support and prayers since his death.
Alexx Ekubo reportedly died on May 11 after battling kidney cancer, a development that shocked fans, colleagues, and movie lovers across the country.

According to the funeral program released by the family, activities for the burial will begin with a service of songs on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, in Lagos.
The event is scheduled to hold at The Monarch Event Centre in Lekki between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., with guests expected to wear white in honour of the late actor.
The family said the ceremony would provide friends, colleagues, and admirers an opportunity to celebrate the actor’s life and contribution to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
A wake-keep will later take place on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the family residence located at 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu, in Abia State.
The funeral service and interment are scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Mary Slessor School in Arochukwu.
After the church service, the late actor will be buried at his family residence in Ujari Village.
The family also announced that a reception would be held immediately after the interment at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, with guests again expected to observe a white dress code.
In the statement, the family expressed appreciation for the support, messages, and prayers received from Nigerians during the difficult period.
They also appealed for continued prayers as preparations continue for the final burial rites.
Alexx Ekubo was widely known in Nollywood for his charming screen presence, acting versatility, and strong popularity among young audiences.
