Lagos Police Deputy Commissioner Khan Salihu Dies

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the death of its Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, DCP Khan Salihu.

The senior police officer died on Monday, June 15, 2026, according to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Benjamin Hundeyin Ambimbola Adebisi.

The announcement has thrown the command into mourning, with colleagues describing the late officer as a dedicated and professional policeman who devoted many years of service to the Nigeria Police Force.

In the statement released on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer said DCP Salihu served the force with loyalty, integrity and a strong sense of duty throughout his career.

He described the deceased as a “highly dedicated, disciplined, and committed senior police officer who served the Nigeria Police Force with exceptional professionalism, loyalty, and integrity.”

According to the statement, DCP Salihu distinguished himself through his diligence, leadership qualities and administrative competence in the discharge of his responsibilities.

“Throughout his distinguished career, DCP Khan Salihu exemplified diligence, exemplary leadership, and an unwavering commitment to duty,” the statement said.

The police spokesperson added that the late officer’s experience and contributions played a major role in improving the administration and operational effectiveness of the Lagos State Police Command.

“His wealth of experience, administrative acumen, and invaluable contributions greatly enhanced the effective management and operational efficiency of the Lagos State Police Command,” the statement added.

The command said news of his death came as a huge shock to officers and men serving in Lagos.

“The news of his demise came as a profound shock and a painful loss to the officers and men of the Command,” the statement noted.

Although the police did not disclose the cause of death, tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues and associates who remembered him as a calm, disciplined and hardworking officer.

On behalf of the command, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, extended condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for strength for those he left behind.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, on behalf of the entire officers and men of the Command, extends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time,” the statement said.

The death of DCP Salihu marks another loss for the Nigeria Police Force, which has in recent years paid tribute to several senior officers who contributed significantly to policing and internal security in the country.
