As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gradually gather momentum, the founder of LoveWorld Incorporated, popularly known as Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has stirred widespread reactions after sharing what he described as a divine revelation concerning three major presidential contenders.
The cleric, speaking during a church program in a video that has since gone viral on social media, said God revealed spiritual insights to him about the leading figures expected to contest Nigeria’s next presidential election.
Although he declined to mention the identities of the individuals involved, Pastor Chris used strong descriptions that have sparked intense debate among Nigerians, particularly on social media, where many have attempted to interpret his comments and link them to prominent political figures.
Addressing his congregation, the televangelist said he held each of the three candidates in high regard and acknowledged their contributions to national development. He stressed that his comments were not motivated by personal dislike or political bias.
“Each one of them is somebody that I have great respect for. Make no mistakes about it, I like these guys,” he said.
“These are wonderful people who have done a lot for our country. I have very positive thoughts for each one of them, but you have to look in the spirit.”
Pastor Chris explained that the first person he saw in the revelation appeared to be under the influence of what he described as a “wicked spirit of darkness.”
According to him, the individual was unaware that he was being manipulated spiritually.
“In the spirit, I saw the first one I mentioned yesterday, and it was a devil, a devil’s spirit was wearing his face,” he said.
He further claimed that while praying, the spirit referred to the individual as “a jackal.”
The description prompted him to consult a dictionary to understand the meaning of the term.
“I said, jackal? I thought I knew the meaning of jackal. I had to go into the dictionary to find out what a jackal is,” he said.
He interpreted the word to mean a trickster, swindler and someone who acts on behalf of another person for deceptive purposes.
The cleric then spoke about a second candidate, warning that allowing such a person to assume the presidency could have grave consequences for the country.
“What about him?” Pastor Chris recalled asking during the spiritual encounter.
“He said, ‘If you let him get into office, you will have no country.’ I said, ‘Lord, if we let the second one into office we will have no country?’ He said, ‘You will have no country.'”
On the third candidate, Pastor Chris offered a different account.
According to him, the individual appeared afraid — not only of losing the election but also of the possibility of winning.
“In the spirit, I saw the third one. He was afraid. He was afraid he might win. He didn’t want to lose, but he was almost scared of winning,” he said.
The pastor added that he prayed for courage and divine strength for the person.
“I pray to the God of heaven, give him wings to fly,” he stated.
Pastor Chris noted that he had traditionally exercised caution when discussing political matters publicly because of the influence of his position as a spiritual leader.
He said he considered political leaders as his “children spiritually” and therefore avoided making statements that could be seen as partisan.
However, he insisted that he could not ignore what he believed God had revealed to him.
“When it comes to elections, because of the sensitivity of our position, I try not to speak. But if I see something that I’ve seen, I cannot say I didn’t see it,” he said.
While declining to identify the first and second candidates, he hinted that the name of the third person could be found in the Bible and urged Nigerians to pray for the country.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions.
Supporters of the cleric described the revelation as a prophetic warning that should encourage national prayers and reflection as the country prepares for another election cycle.
Others, however, argued that prophetic declarations involving elections can fuel speculation and unnecessary political tension, especially when names are not disclosed.
Religious leaders have historically played significant roles in Nigeria’s political landscape, often influencing public opinion through endorsements, prayers and prophetic messages.
Ahead of previous elections, several clerics issued prophecies regarding election outcomes and future leaders. Some of those predictions sparked controversy when they failed to materialise, while others strengthened the belief among many Nigerians that spiritual guidance remains relevant in political decision-making.
Although the Independent National Electoral Commission has yet to officially commence activities for the 2027 presidential election, conversations around potential candidates have intensified across political parties.
As Nigerians await clearer indications of who will eventually emerge as presidential contenders, Pastor Chris’ latest remarks have added another dimension to the growing national conversation.
Whether viewed as a divine warning, a call to prayer or a source of political controversy, the prophecy has once again highlighted the intersection between religion and politics in Nigeria.
For now, the identities of the three individuals remain undisclosed, leaving many Nigerians to speculate while the country gradually moves towards another crucial democratic transition.
