Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced that his sixth studio album, ORIADE, will be released on July 31, marking another major milestone in a music career that has spanned 15 years.
The award-winning singer made the announcement on his official X account, where he unveiled the album title and confirmed the release date for what fans have described as one of the most anticipated music projects of the year.
The new album, ORIADE, comes just a few months after the release of 5ive in April 2026, making it Davido’s second studio album within the year. The project further expands a catalogue that has helped establish him as one of Africa’s biggest music exports and one of the leading voices in the global Afrobeats movement.
According to details released by the singer, ORIADE will contain 13 tracks and will serve as his sixth full-length studio album.
The title, ORIADE, is rooted in Yoruba culture and tradition. In Yoruba, the word symbolises a crowned destiny or a fulfilled purpose, reflecting themes of success, achievement and divine fulfilment. The choice of the title has already attracted interest among fans, many of whom believe the project could reflect Davido’s personal and professional journey over the years.
The release of the album also coincides with the singer’s 15th anniversary in the Nigerian music industry, a period during which he has grown from a young emerging artiste into one of Africa’s most recognised entertainers.
Davido first gained national attention with the release of his debut album, Omo Baba Olowo, in 2012. The project featured hit songs that helped introduce him to the Nigerian music scene and established him as one of the industry’s rising stars.
He later released A Good Time in 2019, followed by A Better Time in 2020. Both albums produced several hit songs that dominated radio stations, streaming platforms and music charts across Africa and beyond.
In 2023, Davido released Timeless, a project widely regarded as one of the biggest albums of his career. The album received critical acclaim both locally and internationally, producing several successful singles and earning recognition at some of the world’s biggest music awards.
Timeless was nominated in the Best Global Music Album category at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, while the song Feel received a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category. Although Davido did not win either award, the nominations further strengthened his reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading global music stars.
Earlier this year, he released 5ive, his fifth studio album, which featured collaborations with several local and international artistes. The project was well received by fans and continued his streak of commercially successful albums.
With the announcement of ORIADE, expectations are already high among music lovers, who are eager to hear the direction the singer will take on the new project.
Davido has built a career around blending Afrobeats with elements of pop, amapiano, dancehall and other global music styles. Over the years, he has collaborated with some of the biggest names in African and international music, helping to expand the global reach of Nigerian music.
Beyond his commercial success, Davido has also played a significant role in promoting Afrobeats on the international stage through sold-out concerts, international tours and collaborations with global artistes.
The announcement has already generated excitement across social media, with fans welcoming the news and counting down to the album’s release. Many have also praised the choice of the Yoruba title, saying it reflects Davido’s continued connection to his cultural roots despite his international success.
Davido, who has won numerous local and international awards throughout his career, remains one of the most streamed African artistes across major digital music platforms. His influence extends beyond music into business, philanthropy and youth development, making him one of Nigeria’s most prominent entertainment figures.
