The Nigerian Air Force has released the list of successful candidates shortlisted for interviews into Junior Secondary School 1 of the Air Force Military School, the Air Force Girls’ Military School, Jos, and other Air Force Secondary Schools for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The announcement marks the next stage of the admission process for hundreds of candidates who sat for the entrance examination into the military-owned secondary schools across the country.
In a statement published on its official website on Wednesday, the Nigerian Air Force said candidates who took part in the entrance examination can now confirm whether they have been shortlisted for the interview stage.
According to the statement, the names of successful candidates have been displayed at Air Force Secondary Schools nationwide and are also available on the Nigerian Air Force’s official website as well as the Nigerian Air Force Education Command website.
The Air Force urged candidates and their parents or guardians to visit the online portals to check the lists and obtain other important information relating to the admission exercise.
It also disclosed that sample interview letters have been uploaded to the portal for successful candidates to download and use as a guide before attending the interview.
The statement explained that the interview for candidates seeking admission into the Air Force Military School and the Air Force Girls’ Military School in Jos will be conducted in two batches.
According to the timetable released by the Air Force, Batch A candidates are expected to report for interview on August 3, 2026, while Batch B candidates will appear on August 7, 2026.
The statement added that interviews for candidates seeking admission into other Air Force Secondary Schools across the country will begin on August 18, 2026.
The Air Force advised all shortlisted candidates to carefully follow the interview schedule and ensure they appear on the dates assigned to them.
It also encouraged candidates to use the online result checker available on the admission portal to verify their entrance examination results before proceeding with other stages of the admission process.
Although the statement did not state the number of candidates shortlisted, it stressed the importance of checking the official platforms for authentic information and avoiding misleading reports from unofficial sources.
The release of the interview list is an important stage in the annual admission exercise into Air Force-owned secondary schools, which attract thousands of applications from parents across Nigeria every year.
The Air Force Military School, established in 1980 and located in Jos, Plateau State, is one of the country’s most recognised military secondary schools. The institution combines academic learning with military-oriented training aimed at developing discipline, leadership, patriotism and physical fitness among students.
The Air Force Girls’ Military School was later established to provide similar opportunities for female students, while several Air Force Secondary Schools have also been set up in different parts of the country to expand access to quality education for children of both military personnel and civilians.
Admission into the schools is usually based on performance in a nationwide entrance examination, after which successful candidates are invited for interviews and screening before the final admission list is released.
The interview stage is regarded as a key part of the selection process, as candidates are expected to present required documents, undergo verification and meet other admission requirements set by the school authorities.
Parents and guardians are therefore advised to carefully read the interview instructions, prepare all necessary documents and ensure that candidates report at the designated centres on time.
Many graduates of the schools have gone on to pursue careers in the armed forces, medicine, engineering, law, business and other professions, while others have continued their education in universities within and outside Nigeria.
The annual admission exercise is usually closely followed by parents seeking quality education in a disciplined environment, making competition for available spaces highly competitive.
With the release of the shortlist and interview timetable, attention will now shift to the screening exercise scheduled for August, after which the Air Force is expected to announce the final list of admitted candidates for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The Nigerian Air Force advised all applicants to rely only on information published through its official channels and to regularly monitor the admission portal for updates throughout the exercise.
