The United States Department of State has announced the release of 250,000 limited-edition commemorative passports as part of activities to celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary of independence.
The department made the announcement on Thursday, saying the special passports were created to honour the nation’s history, heritage and identity ahead of the landmark anniversary celebrations scheduled for 2026.
According to the department, the American passport is much more than a document used for international travel.
